Top Ten Beach Reads (however YOU define a beach read!) I couldn’t come up with a significant theme between the books I picked, but they are all books I’ve come to really enjoy.

1. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

Its a book about summer, family, friends, first loves, and ultimately reconnecting with the people you love. A great read for sure!

2. The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland

If the cover and title isn’t enough to get you to read this book, than the story about a girl trapped in her family’s plan who embarks on a summer trip with a long lost aunt and a hot young surfer boy most definitely should!

3. Enchanted by Alethea Kontis

Drifting away from the more contemporary, this book is about a magic land and a girl who kisses a frog and turns him into a prince. Throw in 7 sister named after the days of the week, an age old prophecy, and a blood feud between the prince and the family, and you’ve got Enchanted.

4. A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks

The ultimate summer read! If you’ve seen the movie but haven’t read the book than SHAME ON YOU! GO OUT AND READ IT NOW!

5. Siren by Tricia Rayburn

This kind of revolved a bit around the beach theme. After her sister’s body washes ashore and her secret life is slowly revealed, Vanessa must discover the dark secret behind her vacation home of Winter Harbor.

6. Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs

This book is all kinds of fun with mermaids, an evil sea witch, lots of surfing, and a gorgeous merman. Thrown in a bit of teenage conflict and Tempest Rising is born!

7. The Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber
This entire series takes a compeltely different take on vampires. While it follows most of the typical vampire myths and stereotypes (allergic to garlic, sunlight, sleeps in a coffin, and are completely goth), the heroine Raven brings such a humorous feel to the story that you just can’t put it down until you finish the series! Definitely a nice comic relief from Twilight.

8. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

A complete rewrite of Cinderella involving a cyborg named Cinder, a race of moon people bent on taking over New Beijing, and a lost moon princess. Its a refreshing scifi take on the classic tale of the girl who lost her slipper at a ball (or her mechanical foot).

9. In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters

While this book is a bit darker and creepier, it will definitely bring a chill to you on any hot beach day. With a camera that can take pictures of the dead in the early 1900s, this book is all about the creepiness of the ‘other side’.

10. Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

This entire book was amazing! It takes such a different take at the Peter Pan story that I’ve never seen before! Its descriptive, heart wrenching and absolutely brilliant as it tells the tale of the mysterious Indian girl name Tiger Lily told from the eyes of a very iconic fairy, Tinker Bell. A must read for sure! Be on the look out for a complete review of it Friday!

I’ve had Cinder sitting on my night stand for months. It’s on my must-read list for summer once school gets out 🙂
